THE AUTUMN RACING STYLE EXPERIENCE
We had the pleasure of attending the Autumn Racing Style Experience with Claire Fabb & Nerida Winter last night at The Stables Royal Randwick Racecourse and what a delicious and decadent event it was.
Enjoying the company of Claire Fabb from Style by Yellow Button and Nerida Winter the talented Double Bay Hat Milliner the Autumn Racing Style Experience was a fine fare of fashion, trends and education. Partnering with french lingerie Maison Simone Perele and the exquisite La Prairie, Claire walked us through the key fashion ensembles to look out for this year which included structured satin suits with a masculine / feminine play. We saw luxe long pant sleeveless jumpsuits, heavy suiting and the colour burgundy featured a lot – one of Claire’s favourite seasonal colours. Simple and sharp certainly took centre stage and I felt this particular styling session took the usual “fuss” out of raceway attire which was a refreshing and bold outtake.
The gorgeous headwear were pieces of art thanks to Nerida Winter, with cherry wide brim hats, eyelash feathered caps and french lace overlays made from the finest french laces houses in Paris. My favourite pick was clearly the burgundy fedora fur felt inspired looks made in the Czech Republic – one of the best manufacturers of felt in the world. You could opt for some beautiful 70’s inspired smaller brimmed fedora’s which could also be transitioned into your Winter accessories closet (imagine travelling through Heathrow airport with this and big black sunglasses = divine!).
Westfield Sydney kindly showcased some of the most race friendly looks from designers such as Chloe, Balenciaga, Carla Zampatti and Zimmermann. My favourite was the Rose satin Zimmermann luxe pant and jacket – the perfect power suit that could be worn off and on the fields. Hugo Boss, Karen Millen, Ted Baker and Ginger & Smart also made the catwalk. All looks that had been curated by Claire Fabb driven by her fashionable modern aesthetic.
We also heard from shapewear lingerie expert Sarah Cohen from Simone Perele. Sarah talked about the Top Model Shapewear – a revolutionary range from iconic French Lingerie house and the incredible ‘micro-encapsulated’ range embedded with slimming agents like retinol, aloe vera, caffeine and peptides that are absorbed by the skin and work to reduce the visible signs of cellulite by up to 67%.
This amazing new science in shapewear had the whole audience gushing – and as Claire Fabb pointed out “Racy shapewear is just as essential as your race day outfit”. So it’s super important you think about what’s going on underneath in addition to on top. The models showcased products that smoothed hips, provided buttocks lift and tummy support. The stretch chantilly french lace on both ensured smooth lines without unsightly bulges – the perfect invisible garment…no Bridgette Jones moments with these!
Models wore incredible footwear by Chloe and Balenciaga and makeup featured a matte finish and burgundy lip. We were also treated to luxury skin consultations and hand massages by the Swiss La Prairie – quite possibly my favourite luxury skincare lines. We experienced their exquisite cellular creams, serums and trotted home with my favourite La Prairie Foam Cleanser and Skin Caviar Luxe Creams. Like I said – pretty special night. As someone who travels every month – I can’t live without the uber hydrating La Prairie range.
The Stables venue looked lush and stunning as always and we snacked on champagne and canapés such as cucumber and salmon roe bites and curled endive shells with sliced pear and a walnut dressing.

Fashion Femme: What I Wore
Given the Race Day inspiration and the rich burgundy reds and purples we are seeing a lot of this season, I opted for a rich red high neck backless dress by Finders Keepers and teamed it with a Nerida Winter Cherry Wide brim Fedora. Check out Nerida’s latest creations here www.neridawinter.com the hat is available now for purchase.
